What Does Your Chin Say About You?

We always tend to get told what our star sign says about the month we’re going to have or what your body shape means you should wear, but what about what your chin says about your personality? Now, I am no scientist, but surely there must be something in a chin and the way its shape relates to some characteristics and traits in humans. After all, studies, such as the pseudoscience ‘Phrenology’, have shown that there could be a link between the shape of your skull and your personality. From the six chin types listed below, find yours and discover your true nature and - just to really hone in on the scientific evidence and to help you identify your chin type - I’ve listed a few celebrities that fall under each category.

The Square Chin

Angelina Jolie, Kanye West and Robert Pattinson

As you probably have guessed, the 'Square Chin' is seen as quite a masculine physical feature because it means you have a defined jawline and strong chin. People with this chin type are known to be aggressive at times and always direct and confrontational. They’re never afraid to voice their opinion and be brutally honest even if it might upset people. They’re stubborn and stuck in their ways which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But, on a more positive note, they’re intellectuals and free thinking individuals who take on leadership roles quite comfortably and many often look to for support and strength.

The Round Chin

Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Leo DiCaprio Chins

Not to be mistaken for a double chin. A round chin and face can be known as ‘baby face syndrome’ because it can often make you appear younger than you are. People with this chin type are quite emotional, very affectionate, romantic and loyal, often to a fault. They could be labeled as a bit of a pushover and are guilty of being too forgiving; however, they’re easy to get along with which makes them quite popular and a bit of a social butterfly.

The Dimple Chin

Or cleft chin or butt chin. It is marked by a small indent at the bottom of your chin. People with a dimpled chin are best described as optimistic, funny, cheerful and hard-working. They are generally happy people who always have a smile on their face and don’t believe in negativity. Though they can be misunderstood by many as arrogant or snobby, those who know them well would only call them charming and charismatic.

The Long Chin

Jennifer Aniston, Ryan Gosling, Reese Witherspoon chin

Anything longer than 44mm for men and 40mm for women is seen as a longer than average chin. It may not be the most sought after chin type but it does come with its perks. These people are the creatives who seem to excel at anything they put their mind to, especially sports and outdoor activity. They're very family oriented and adventurous. They tend to be slightly guarded when they first meet people and can be labelled as quiet but they're extremely loyal and reliable; hence, they make for great friends.

The Heart Chin

Kendall Jenner, Kerry Washington and George Clooney chin

This is the most common chin shape. Though their chin is shaped like the bottom of a heart, people in this category don’t like to be very open with their emotions or feelings. They are also known to be quite practical, organised and useful in a crisis because of their calm demeanor. In other words, they're the person you call in an emergency. They're also known to be lucky. However, they are very indecisive and tend to be a lazy at times.

The Protruding Chin

Rihanna, Charlie Sheen and Drew Barrymore chin

A very rare form of chin. People with this type of chin are very outgoing and confident and can adapt themselves to pretty much any social situation. They can often be seen as a bit of a wild card with their unpredictable nature and inability to confine to social norms. They find it difficult to keep secrets and even harder to stay focused or concentration on a single task (i.e. a complete procrastinator). But they are the life and soul of the party and always up for a challenge.
